Default Mobile 1 or Castrol?

I was at the store today buying oil, had my 2 big jugs of Mobile 1 and some guy looked at me like I was an idiot and told me that Castrol synthetic was 8 times better than Mobile 1. I don't know if the guy know what he is talking about or not. I read on this forum awhile ago that lots of people use Mobile 1 so thats what I have been using. What does everyone think?

My money is on Mobil1, until proven otherwise. Let's see data to prove otherwise!

I would think they are both good oils but the mobile 1 is more popular. I have been using mobil 1 synthetic in my 03 cobra since dec 2002, has 70k miles and runs like new so am sticking with mobile 1.

I believe they are both superior oils compared to other brands on the market. I have been using Castrol for along time and have never had engine trouble or oil usage in any vehicle. Plus Castrol is cheaper and just as good IMO.

This is the response I was anticipating. Both good oils.

Is it really even a choice?
Syntec is not a true synthetic oil.

It's Mobil 1 for me!

If you ever see the guy again, you might want to give him the look..

Like I always say,....opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and most of them stink!

I run Amsoil in my truck. I used to run Mobil 1, but the company I work for switched over to carrying Amsoil and I can get it for $95.00 for a five gallon bucket. I've always been a fan of Amsoil and I run it in everything I own now.
