Default Moaning

2001 screw

Weather is frigid and starting up makes quite the moaning sound until the engine gets warm.

Today I started it and moved the steering wheel and was able to get the moan to stop.

Would this be an issue with the power steering pump? I know the moaning is in the accessory system.

But i was looking for causes before I take it in the cold garage and tinker. Would moving the steering wheel to quiet the noise deduct it to a power steering issue?

If it moans when you turn the wheel all the way to the right and all the way to left then I'd say its the steering pump. Probably low on fluid.

What if it moans at start up though? And when I move the steering wheel a quarter of a turn; I'm able to quiet it?
