missing bolt, stupid question
Hi,
sorry if this is a stupid question..
took a gamble on having the water pump replaced on my truck (2000 4.2 v6 XLT) by a local repair guy
he replaced the pump fine but in the process messed up one of the bolts that hold the pump and ac compressor on. apparently it just wouldn't get started again, and upon inspecting the bolt, the threads looked fine, not stripped, so he said it was the bolt hole threads inside that were broken..
instead of offering any advice, just told me it'd be fine if the bolt was left out
I'm not very mechanical or truck savvy but logic tells me that a bolt is there for a good reason, and driving without it in place isn't very safe..
here's the bolt in question that is now missing

The truck seems to drive fine but I'm nervous to go anywhere far in it.. planning on taking it to a reputable shop (if I can find one) locally and ask there also, but wondering if anyone here had any advice or experience with this sort of thing
thanks in advance, mike
