Miss in engine..sometimes
driving to work today and like some one flipped a switch i had a serious miss. It shook the truck type miss, Like i lost a plug wire. got better at high rpms
Checked it out at lunch didn't notice any thing one of the coil packs could move a little but didnt look loose and POOF on the way home it was fine...
I tried to take it oriely for a scan for misses but they claim unless the check engine light was on they couldnt read it (bastard wouldn't even try)
I have read all the horror stories about plugs and breaking plugs, and coil packs....
Any Ideas

First of all, the guy at oriley wasn't lieing. The scanners they use do not have the capability to check live data. You need a more expensive scanner for that to read the Mode $6 which would show misfires and it would have been pointless for him to "try" (you owe him an apology).
Secondly, our trucks do not have any issue with breaking plugs. If you change them, they need more torque than spec'd by for (28ft pounds instead of 13ft pounds). Not sure the horror in regards to coil packs, they have 3 stages...they either work, work intermittently, or fail.
That brings me to my last point. IF you can get it to miss on demand, bring it to an actual shop and they can check your misfire counts. Otherwise if it sets a code, you can go back to oriley and tell the "bastard" to check your code. That will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. You more than likely have a cop in the intermittent stage and it will need to be replaced.
Since it's working fine, the only thing you can really do is wait until it gets worse.
