Thank you guys. I have a couple of new Denso’s (I think they are) laying around, which is what I put in it last time.
I’m going to grab a motorcraft coil and replace it and check the plug and see how it goes.
DEnso should be fine. But the coils fail with some regularity above 150k for sure. In last 250k I've probably had 6 actually fail with driveability issue.
First I've heard of a Denso COP coils failing since they came into to the picture, -manufacturing Motorcraft COP system coils for Ford. They are Ford spec coils w/proper thermal protection and dual build magnets.
If it's not something to do with the coils, boots or plugs themselves, make sure the ignition harness hasn't come into contact with the AC accumulator. That can create magnetic disturbance causing ignition havoc.

just out of curiosity, could a battery that’s going bad be the culprit? It used to sit at around 12.4 overnight, but since I moved from Phoenix to Cheyenne it now sinks down to 11.8.
