OK, this is for a Ford Ranger, but you guys helped me so much with my F150 that I wanted to ask you first.

The power steering just crapped on my daughter's 98 Ranger. I checked the fluid and the inside of the cap was melted and the dipstick was melted clean off. Can't imagine that high-temp polymer doing any good for the hydraulic lines.

Any ideas why this would happen?
