And sometimes if you have specific questions on topics that are discussed a lot you get buried in a lot of nonsense. I had some LED questions and never did find on search all the answers. I could have also done without all the, "look how pretty my new lights are," threads. Nothing wrong with that but there were no answers there.

With this thread there were some glaring issues. Tapping into oil and coolant line to what sounded like the notion that oil and coolant lines themselves are run to the gauges and no thought of sensors. With a quick google search of vendors showed many of them had online instructions that would have fixed some erroneous assumptions about how the gauges work. The poster could have also asked at his "Princess" parts store, "Hey man, how do these go in?" At autozone most of the gauges have schematic diagrams on the back of the packaging.

Just my opinion but BigMacs question should have been along the lines of, I'm new to all this and does anyone have an opinion on installing gauges being a reasonable project for a beginner.

That would have been a good question. IMO
