Manual T-case

I have a Manual T-case (that's not working) in my 99 f150 and I was wondering if I buy in new one are they all the same?

Whats not working? Is it seized up? Nothing happens when you move it? Grinding sounds? You might not need a whole new tcase.

There is Grinding sounds but it is cheaper to get a used one. I was seeing if getting a used one will it work or do I have to match up numbers or something like that?
