Maintenance Help
I am looking for how to's for maintenance stuff. Specifically transmission flush, front and rear differentials and the transfer case. Going to change all my fluids but would like some walk throughs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have found a walk through for the Trans from Kattumaram but I still am looking for transfer case, and front and rear diff.....especially what gear oil (weight) to use.
Thanks.

I would check the front diff, if it is clean leave it, as far as the back goes, you have to remove the cover off the back to drain it. Put the cover back on using RTV gasket maker, the plug is on the upper front drivers side, uses a 3/8 ratchet to remove and fill it with 75w-90 shoud take 3qts.
If you have limited slip you need 75W140, and don't forget the friction modifier from Ford. If you flush your tranny I wouldn't use a "trans flush". Just change the filter and exchange the ATF. If you front end is fine I would leave it.
Check the levels in the Diffs. If they are fine leave them alone. Unless you went off road through some water then change the fluids. 75W90 in front and Synthetic 75W140 in the rear and friction modifier if you have limited slip. Some of the synthetics come with the friction modifier in the oil so you can skip the FM. The transfer case uses Mercon ATF so you now need Mercon V. All this info is in the specs section of your owners manual. Down load from here if you don't have one. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
There is a drain plug and a fill plug on both the transfer case and the front differential. The rear only has a fill so you, as was stated, need to remove the cover. BEFORE you remove the cover or drain the front diff and the transfer case make sure you can remove the fill plug. It would really suck to pull the plug and not be able to fill it.
