Broken tabs on my '99s passenger door panel caused it to beat against the metal frame causing a racket, so I'm replacing the panel. While it's off, is it worth pulling off the plastic sheet and checking/lubing anything?

Not really. If you live in an area where road salts are used, maybe that stuff migrates into the doors.

Otherwise, I’ve pulled the panels to swap mirrors and replace the back door cable sleeves and everything was fine. Even the decade-old candy the previous owner’s kids managed to get in there somehow (no, did not taste test).
