So it's a 4.2L? The coil pack isn't anywhere near the injectors...so what gives?
Sure you don't have a V8 with a COP ignition ?
If so, take the fuel rail loose while putting downward pressure on it above the injector, twist the injector from left to right and vice versa to seat.
Can't over tighten a coil or they will break or worse, you'll strip the thread chamber, they must remain loose on the bushing. Spec is 26" lbs, that's very little torque. Also too tight, the coil won't have the ability to move on the bushing. Engine vibration will break the ear off...has to move.

It sounds like you need to find a donor vehicle and get the wiring harness and replace yours. Pictures might help us, but if it was a major melt, change the harness. Make sure you get one to match your truck/engine combination.
