looking to mod my 97
i got the 97 F150 XLT 4x4, had it since new, and its finally time to mod it. I ve been remodeling my house and left this on the back burner. So its time to get back in the groove.
Think i m going to start off with some new tires and aftermarket wheels. Any suggestions? (all stock from factory right now)
Thanks

I have a 97 also and just put 285/75 16 tires on the stock rims, it really filled out the wheel wells nicely. Almost went for the 265's which is also a good way to go but glad I went with the bigger ones. Want to add a chip and a Troyer electric fan next but doing some remodeling also. You know how that goes!!
From what I can tell, so far. And I am new to the f150 world. Start with A better muffler, go all the way to the manifolds if you can afford it. Don't bother with A cold air intake, it already has one! Get A better filter...yes. But the air intake feeds off the wheel well, fresh and colder then the engine compartment already. (please correct me if I am wrong!!)
New tires and rims, get what matches what you want to "do" with the truck (ask around). Otherwise go for the look you want that doesn't mess up what you want/need to do with the truck.
A good mod for any truck is one that increases MPG and/and HP!
Also, tinted windows give you the "private" feel, new shocks (even OEM) give you a "new ride" feel. Replace whatever has been bothering you about the truck! That can go A long way.
Most F150's are already nicely high. So raising it is only relevant if you need to go over big sh!^. Otherwise replacing any old/worn front end parts will get you the best for your $ return on truck performance in my opinion.
Basically, put what you want it to do, on it. Or, if you want to impress...put what "they" like to look at on it. Function or Falacy?!? That is the real question to begin starting Mods, I think.

If you could post a picture it would help alot. Then we could toss you ideas to what would look good.
Do you want chrome or black rims? AT or MT tires?
All you mentioned was wheels but if you want performance. Go CAI, EXHAUST and Programmer.
But give us some ideas and we'll be glad to help you.

Not necessarily in the looks dept. But I Just started to give some much deserved attention to my 99 and added creature comforts of Keyless Door Keypad, Heated Seats, Homelink Visor and just found 99 Expedition console and can't wait to get it & Start!!
Ok those are fresh! Different then all the standard Mods I keep reading about and still want to do someday! Can you really change the entire console like that? They can't possibly be an exact match...
So many skill sets on this sight! I wonder..could we get together 2 of each skill set and build the ultimate 150? From scratch? Starting with metal to fab the frame the way the frame guys think? And then build on that..Hey maybe F150forum could get their own show for that project!!
