Lonnnng day
So after having the worse day of boating Ive ever had today.. I get back and this new dock I was at was not low tide friendly, I mean the tail gate of the truck was under water and the trailer bumper boards were 2in above water.. =( So anyways we manage to get the boat on the trailer, and go to pull it out with my 97' 6 cyl.. and the trailer had sunk in some mud because I was so far back that I wasnt even on the ramp anymore... Im tryin to pull it out and THOUGHT my passenger side tire was spinning in the water and smoking, when I get out to ask my buddy about the tire spinning he is running over and said, " dude your tire wasnt spinning, thats not where the smoke was coming from." =( so yea I was in first gear with the clutch completely out, gas 3/4 to the floor, and neither tire moving... not for too long, just a few seconds. But then came the sweet smell of burnt clutch. After I let it cool down it SEEMS to drive now, will go in gear etc but lose alot of clutch pedal pressure. So Im drive it in the morning and see what its like.. what are the chances it will be good? Is there anything I can quickly inspect, or check or anything? ughh what a long day... even longer than this post!!!
I drove it this morning and it didnt grind going into gear.. the biggest difference I felt was my clutch pedal is about half as much pressure as it used to be, and the clutch engage / disengage area is very small now.. but it drove ok. Im glad thats all it is, my buddy said if anything its just the clutch. Was a wonderful aroma it put off last night at the boat ramp... the inside of truck still smelled like it this morning.
