Default Locker question

Have been thinking about changing up the rearend some, specifically the diff. It's a 98 regular cab with a built 4.6 and a 5 speed. My main question is if anybody has any first hand knowledge with a drop in style locker like the powertrax or Aussie locker. I would really like to be able to launch at the strip better without breaking the bank. Currently it has an open diff and 3.55's and its a 8.8.
It could really use gears as well but the cost is prohibitive at this time. And please don't tell me to just weld up the spider gears and give it hell. The truck is currently my daily since I sold my mustang but will only be for about another 10 months or so.
With that said what do you think??

Most reliable lockers I have found for my rear-end is just as costly and gears. Got a link to the lockers?

The best part about just doing the locker is tht you don't have to reset the gears.

Yep. The 98 see quite a bit of street time as I live in the city.

The locker itself isn't that loud. I can hear it with the windows down going around a sharp turn at speed(click..click..click). But with the windows up Hardly notice it. If you have the radio or ac on you won't hear it at all.

Thanks Collin. With my exhaust I doubt I could hear it in a full lock turn. How many miles do you have on yours and what kind of power lvl?
I put down 308 to the wheels without the bottle lol

i have a spartan locker in my 8.8 with 3.55 not near your power level but its been flawless since i installed it almost 2 years ago. can't really hear it on the street unless you're surrounded by buildings and can hear it echoing off slightly. got mine for about 350 shipped.
