Default Little help

About a week ago my '01 4.6 with COPs started to miss fire and shutter. I've have a bad COP twice so I went right to the shop and got a new one. No check engine light at the time so I couldn't get a code to find out which cyl. Half way home the light came on. Said the he'll with it and swapped the COP on the cyl that had failed twice before. When I did this I pulled the poss cable off the battery which cleared the check eng light. Well, still missing. I've waited a couple of days for the light to come back on so I can get the truck scanned but it hasn't come back on. My question is, if I hook up a scanner will it recall the last code? Sorry so long.

Yeah there will be a code in the history. If you can get it to miss at idle you can find the cylinder by unplugging the COPs one at a time. Good cylinders will make it run worse when you unplug it, and the missing cylinder will stay the same, because it's already missing so unplugging the coil wont make it worse. Then you can swap coils around to see if the miss moves.

Thanks, didn't want to waste a trip to advanced auto. I tried unplugging them until I got to the back few. I'm afraid to break a injector wire or something just doing trial and error. Don't want worse of a problem than I started with.

You can turn the injectors to get the connector out of the way of the COP plug.
