Default Lights out

Recently installed a new radio and everything worked fine for about 2 hours. I was riding around at night and then all my lights in the dash went out. Radio still works but my gauge lights don’t work, button and **** lights don’t work. All the gauges and ***** work but just lights went out. I’ve checked all the fuses and everything seemed fine but might’ve missed something and yes I made sure I don’t have the lights all the way dimmed. A few of the lights in the dash still work like high beam, fog light, battery, seat belt, etc. Just wondering if anybody knows the solution

Obviously, tough to say without being there, but sounds like the radio tapped into the illumination from the dash and that’s where things went sideways, whether it was a poor ground or poor wiring job.

Well the lights you said still work make sense because they aren't ran on the same circuit as the other lights. When you dim your instrument cluster those lights will still be 100% brightness regardless of where your dimmer is set.

Does every thing come back to normal with your lights turned off? Try just turning on the parking lights and see if that keeps the lights on.
I'm inclined to agree something got boogered up on the wiring. I don't think any major damage is done you'll just need to trace the wires and make sure everything is good and attached to the proper wires
