Default Lightning Engine Specs

So I have found a 99' Lightning engine with 88k miles on it without the supercharger on craigslist. Are just the cranks different from the regular 5.4s for this year? The 02-03' Lightnings are the ones with upgraded pistons right? Is it worth getting this one or is a 5.4 out of any other F150 about the same? Wanting to get an engine to rebuild for boost this winter to drop in around spring time. Thanks!

All the lightning engines have Forged pistons, Forged cranks, and PMR rods. The rods are the weakest link in the engine. The biggest difference between all of the is the lower intake and supercharger. The later engines from late 02 to 03 had 8 thread heads for the plugs. Because the early lightnings were known to spit plugs out.

I know the cams are different than your run of the mill 5.4.
