So I had the idea of taking the amber led strips from Autozone and placing them behind the side view mirrors where they can bleed through behind the glass as new turn signals. has anyone else done this?

 

its do-able, but not as easy as what you are thinking. You have to cut off the plastic that is glued to the back of the glass and mount the lights right up against the back of the glass. Also just getting the mirror out the housing to do this can cause it to break sometimes. But if you can get that stuff done then its as simple as running wires into the doors and up into the mirrors.
