knocking
I have a 1999 f150,4.2 v6 I bought right off the floor in dec. 1998.
I have nearly 300,000 miles on it and that is only because it has been sitting for the past year in my driveway.
I came home from work and the truck ran fine. I tried to start it the next day and all I got was an engine that started and began knocking and shaking out of the engine bay.
I had two mechanics look at it and gave several different diagnosis.
It ranged from timing chain, flywheel, rod, rod bearing, distributor, etc.
from one end of the engine to the other.
There is no oil in the radiator or water in the oil. It seems to level out the knocking when I rev the engine, but still knocks a little when running.
probably should just rebuild and call it a day.
Must say that I have always owned a ford and is worth saving.
