I have a 97 F150 4X4 with a manual lock. Can I install a key-fob type lock on it?

 

Yes.

Your best bet is to buy an aftermarket alarm, and buy a couple of actuators and connect those to the brain of the alarm system. If you already have an alarm with those capabilities, then just wire up the actuators.
