Default Key Help

I have a 1999 F150 and I wanted to know how I can tell if it has a chip in it or not, I want to get a blank so I can make another copy.

Unless it's a fleet truck it will be a PATS key.

The hey will have a big blac top that's sorta fat if it has a chip if it dose not it will just have a small balck cover on it

what do you mean by fleet truck? and Pats key?

Pats means that it has the chip in it and fleet is an xl with no options at all like no power windows or locks

If anything just go to the local hardware and get a duplicate made(cheap), if it doesn't make the truck run you have a PATS key, My 98 is not fleet and is non-PATS.
