So with your (@Cmanjr) question along with the debate I went back to the gentleman that I know that worked at Ford/Lincoln for decades and works at a major oil company now. He was the one that had recommenced I use 5w-30. He said that he thought 5w-20 was even better, per Ford as you gents had mentioned, and in turn we both stand corrected. I wasn't aware of the spec to be quite frank and I had relied on him for his recommendation, lesson learned. Thank you for bringing it to my attention .

Default Rear View Mirror Re Install Fix

I've never had to fix a mirror mount before so this was a first. It was very easy. I just used the kit from Permatex that you can see here..

Default Energy Suspension Body Mounts

I decided to tackle the body mounts. I bought the Energy Suspension mounts through Amazon. There are three per side. I jacked up one side between the two body mounts located on the cab. You want to jack up the body so that you can take out the top body mount pucks located between the body and frame. You have to unbolt the mounts via the cab, under the carpet, and the front two are located towards the front of the frame in the engine compartment, those can be unbolted from underneath the truck. I hit each of the mounts with penetrating oil a couple of times in the days preceding the job. Regardless of that, I had to use my sawzall on a couple of the mounts as they were as frozen as can be. I don't have a lot of the pics of the job but a couple comparisons of the new versus old mounts.

Comparison.

Energy Suspension Mount Plates/Washers.

Mount, Mid-cab Drivers side.

Mount, Mid-cab Passengers side.

Mount-Drivers Side foot-well.

New Energy Suspension Body Mount.

Old Body Mount. (Think the frame needs a power washing ;-> )

This is just an amazing read through. I really like every attention to the utmost detail as possible. Be sure to update when you start tackling power adders!

Default Magic Carpet Ride!

After I replaced the body mounts I had planned in advance to install new carpeting as well. I looked around for new carpets and even asked in this forum for recommendations (no takers) and I went with Stock Interiors I liked the fact that they offered plush carpets as well as the mass backing similar to the factory.

I used T50 and T55 to remove the front and rear seats plus the seat belt mounts. I then took the old carpet and placed it over the new one on of my patios and started making X-Cuts where all the seat mount holes will be. I also cut the front tunnel flap like the old carpet, but I left all the extra trim on the sides and back. I wanted to leave as much carpet as possible and decided I would make any final trims in the truck itself.

I then installed the carpet down in the truck and used all the nuts and bolts to hold the carpet down as I started making my cuts. I started the install from the passenger side front and worked down the side of the truck making trims around the front seat belt mounts (I left those mounted because they can be tedious to reinstall) and reinstalled the floor trim as I went around to the back. I then did the same on the drivers side. I ended up trimming a couple/few inches off that front tunnel area flap but was able to leave a couple extra inches around the perimeter of the carpet and therefore adding a bit more insulation if you will and if you have read this thread you know how certifiable I am about that . I ended up cutting just a bit more around the bolt holes when I installed the seats.

The carpet install wasn't difficult but it does take a while to do because you want to think through how it will all fit and of course the old truism of measuring twice and cutting once is accurate, though for me it's usually measure ten times and cut once.

Here are some pics:

I labeled everything meticulously and numbered each of the bolts as well.

The old carpet laid over the new one. That old carpet had seen better days for sure.

Here you can see here where I left the front seat belts installed.

You can see here where I placed the bolts down over the carpet. This really helped as I pulled the carpet into place and trimmed.

I'm really happy with the results. It looks new and the descriptive word that hit me when I first really took it in was classy, but then again, I like Black ;->.

Default Fixed the Dashboard Cup Holder

Many thanks to @dopewaffle for his write up on the cup holder fix

I used three self tapping screws and I actually pre-drilled to get them started, it worked like a a charm.

Pre-drilled three holes so that the spring would still fit flat against the back of the cup holder and within the two small guide tabs.

Default F-150 Logo Ghost Step Light

I wired up the F-150 Logo Ghost Lights on each front door. I bought the kit from ebay and kit came with a drill bit to cut the hole in the door panel. I wired the ghost logo to the door light using a simple pig tail and two common wire nuts and electrical tape on each side.
