Intermittent Fuel delivery problem 1997
Hi, all
I have a 1997 longbed f-150. For the past 4 months I have been experiencing a fustrating problem. My truck will die suddenly with no warning. It may be at a stop light or on the freeway, doesn't matter. I try to start but fail. It seems like a fuel delivery problem. Battery new, fuel filter new, replaced the crankshaft sensor...... Curious thing is after about a hour the truck starts and runs fine for about a month, then happens again. This has happened 4 times in the last approx 3-4 months. I have the original fuel pump with 200k on the truck. I know I've been lucky because my 92 f-150 ate 3 fuel pumps in 5 years. I don't want to replace the pump and still have the problem. Does this sound like it could even be the pump with such intermittent symptoms.....any insights would be greatly appreciated

It does sound like a pump failure is emminent. If possible, carry a spray can of starting fluid, when it quits again spray some fluid into the intake, it it pops off, at least you have seperated ignition issues from fuel problems.
