Default Interior Plastics

So I have a dark red interior. The other day I was cleaning it up and a little spec of the "red" came off and revealed black plastic underneath it. My question is this:
Is there a way to remove the factory interior paint off of the all the trim pieces without doing damage?

What should i use to sand it with? I don't really want to take any of the texture off plus that would be a ton of sanding and alot of time with out my truck. I was thinking more of a chemical to use to get the "paint" off of the plastics. I dont want to paint over it and then have the factory paint then chip away. Acetone I think would melt the plastic?

Just clean it down real good. Then get some krylon spray paint for plastics. Shouldn't chip off unless u hit it pretty good.

Well Im worried that some of the Factory Color is already peeling. Just a small piece next to the instrument cluster. I dont want to paint it all up and then have to do touch up later down the road.

If you want to sand it. Get some real high grit wet sandpaper. And wet sand it.

Use a Scotch brite pad it will not remove the texture. Use and adhesion promoter to prevent it from happing again. The Ford dealer might sell color matching paint.

Hey thanks for the link! Although I just found it last night while searching the interweb. I guess that I will just scotch bright everything and get to painting it when I get a chance. No I just need to find some gray carpet, belts, and seats.
