Default intake silencer??

So, am i correct to say that the intake silencer on a 99 5.4 is in the elbow between the throttle body and mass air flow sensor? what's a suitable replacement for this elbow that is going to keep the air cool, or how do folks modify this silencer so it's a straight through piece?

You can modify the silencer, but it makes no difference in performance if that's what you're after.

I second that.

I did mine two weeks ago and wasted over and hour of time that I could have been drinking more.

After I removed mine, I measured the inside diameter on the throttle body and silencer. The TB has a smaller diameter, there no more air is going in.

However, I can here the air rushing through the tubes now and that sounds cool, but not cool enugh to do it again.
