Default Installed Navagation on the Cheap!

For all you F150 fans out there with project trucks, here is a short video that you may be interested in. The video shows a cell phone that is placed on the instrument cluster and fed by a 5 volt microSD plug. Let me know what you think. Here is the link

I used to use my 8" tablet and did the same thing, but with a windshield suction mount. Works great with CoPilot or IGo. I've since gone to an Android DD radio head with installed IGo app. Works within a couple feet of where I am at any time. I personally like that app, but like CoPilots graphics better. JMO, of course.

I prefer a separate garmin gps, works best overall for me

Located at top of windshield . Bright display, no glare there.

Dvd screen stereos have way too much glare to be useful location in my truck in day time.

And i stream material from my phone. And use my stereo. I want to see the information on them too for media, artist, album art, who im calling, dictating texts to, etc. I also want to see nav. At a glance. I dont want to switch back n forth.

Using a phone for primary navigation just sucks imo while driving..if use phone for other things. .. Its a good backup for 2nd opinion , google is often better than garmin at routes or new addresses. Finding stuff, etc. I can cast my phone to my stereo display....not interested for previously mentioned reason. I can run several nav appps on stereo too.....with phone pluggged in....also not interested.

Using your stereo display for primary navigation also sucks imo, even with built in high end stereos with nav. If use it for entertainment.

not a bad idea...I just prefer to see the speedometer and tach

I use an x-grip on the left side windshield for the phone...but I wish there was a company that replaced the whole gauge cluster with a tablet screen that wcould be changed to display navigation or speedometer or both

I dig that you can also use it as a rearview camera on wifi
