injector Conjecture
Ok here is a quick question. I have a 97 F150 that I am tearing down to replace the heads. While its all apart I figured I would swap out a few parts that are not so easy to get to otherwise. The injectors in there are all original with 227000 miles on them. I see that some people offer an upgraded injector that has a 4 hole spray pattern. Bosch 0280155700. Would there be a benefit over the stock injector for the 4.6 Romeo that is in my truck. Or should I just stay with the stock injector.
Thanks

The stock fuel injector has 4 holes which is covered by the pintle cap with one center hole. As long as your fuel injector resistance is within 11-18 ohms it's fine. Just make sure to use 2 NEW O-ring for each injector and lube it with engine oil to seal properly. If the pintle cap is loose you need to replace it.
Upgrading the fuel injector doesn't make any sense. Injecting more fuel will only increase your fuel consumption. Your engine will not gain any power by injecting more fuel because it will not ignite without adding more air or oxygen.
It's just another Marketing Gimmicks.
Instead of wasting money replacing the injectors why not replace all posible culprit that can cause repeat failure.
Upgrade to a Brass Core/Freeze Plug. The stock plugs are DESIGNED TO FAILED after few years. It will surely eaten by rust & slowly leak coolant. This will also allow you to clean the coolant passages in the engine block. Remove the Coolant Drain Plugs on both sides of the block to remove all trap sediments. You need to apply heat on the drain plug to soften the thread locker.
Replace the all Hoses, Water Pump & Fan Clutch
