Default Idler arm bushing?

Hi guys,

went today to get a alignment, but they showed me that the idler arm is gone. It wiggles around, when you shake the tire.

Can I replace the bushing (red box) or do I have to get a whole new idler arm.

Thank you!

Just grab a new moog arm and call it a day. I honestly didn't know they had a removable bushing.

Exactly as JP said above. Just buy a new idler arm kit, from Moog, and remove the two bolts mounting the arm and the one bolt where the end goes into the center link. Just unbolt the center point first, use a pickle fork for tie rods, and pop that one off. The remove the two arm mount bolts and replace the assembly. There is really no alignment needed, but it always the best idea to have it checked. If the idler is bad, remember, that the other two or 3 points where tie rods attach can be weak also. Once you change the idler, you will know if any other joint is bad.

What points should I check?

And anybody got the torque specs for the bolts? I used google, the two upper bolts should be 145/150 ft pounds, but for the castle nut I found a couple specs like 60/66/90 ft pounds, which is a large range, any advise?

Should I lift the truck while changing the idler arm?

Default Idler arm bushing?

Its real easy...

Remove old one, no jacking of truck required.

Install new one and grease it.

Get alignment..

Have a beer...

Cheers!

Watch out guys, Moog has to different idler arms, one 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" between the holes. 4-5 days and the Moog K8739T will be in...

The difference is that the 2.5 is for the standard F150 and the 3 7/16 is for the 7700. Call it Light Duty vs Heavy Duty.

4-5 days to Germany for $37 seems fair, 2 day delivery would have been $74 - even with shipping still cheaper than most parts for german cars
