Default Idle problem

Hey guys, I have a 97 f150 w/4.6, auto. In park and nuetral it idles fine, but while in gear when you come to a stop, the idle will surge and sometimes the engine will stall. With the a/c on it is not as likely to stall but the idle still surges. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Sounds like it might be your MAFS "Mass Air Flow Sensor". Usually when they go bad. And you run the a/c it puts a strain on the motor and will cause it to run rough and die. But I could be wrong. I don't want to give bad advice. But that would be my first clue. Either that or you have a bad vacuum line somewhere. Such as a PCV valve. Don't ever look at the most expensive things. Always start cheap. Then if it doesn't fix it. Go to the more expensive things. Just a tip. Hope I helped you out alittle.

Default Same problem

I have a 97' 4.6 also with the same problem I pulled the IAC and cleaned it. This seemed to help, it still surges a little but it doesn't die.
