Talking I think I found my vacuum leak, where does this hose go?

Hey guys,

I was reading around on the website about vacuum leaks. My a/c & air only works on defrost. After searching around, It seems many people were mentioning to check the vacuum lines behind the battery.

Here's what i found! A disconnected black hose!! Where does this connect? Or is this normal? Can someone help!

Also do i need to look inside these black boxes? are they serviceable?

2003 screw 5.4 btw, thanks!

If I'm remember right, from when I was looking for my vacuum leak, that isn't a vacuum. Its the vent for the front diff. Its ran in the same loom as the vacuum lines that run down to the diff for the locking hubs.

four.six... you are 100% correct The hose looked really fishy to me, it was to cut too cleanly; Not freyed or dry-rotted. After searching more online i found it's some kind of breather tube.

After looking around more, I did locate the leak. The offending vacuum line was hidden behind the starter relay . The rubber was rotted to hell, and one of the other tubes wasn't entirely seated to the T connector. After the new rubber fitting I did a EATC re-build and were 100% operational even the automatic mode works, before i had to set it to floor / vent.

Thanks for your help!
