i need some wisdom!!
well the explorer is exploded and we went to look at a 01 f 150 4.2 2wd ext cab with 90,1xx mi. today. the price seems fair but im VERY leary about the 4.2. ive heard bad things about the head/intake gaskets any help would be much appreciated thanks. o ya its 8178.93 out the door.
8k for a 01' F150 2WD 4.2 with 90k miles... seem pretty high to me..
You should beable to find a nice F150 with the 4.6 or 5.4 with under 100k for 10k.
What do you plan on using the truck for? Do you want 2WD or 4WD?
I wouldn't touch a V6 in these trucks.. but to each their own.

that's just a few I found real quick. And the prices have gone back up a little bit on them in the last few months. A year ago you could find 4x4 supercabs, 5.4L with low miles for 5k

I've got the 4.2 and like it. The price seems a bit high for that truck I would want to pay maybe 7k out the door tops. The major problems with that engine were 97-98's and early 99's I think so you should have no problem if you keep up with the maintenance.
