I have a 1997 4x4 f-150 with the 5.4 and the 4R70W transmission that hit a tree and is totaled. I also have a 2000 4x4 f-150 with the 5.4 and the 4R100 transmission but I believe it's smoked as it will only move in reverse. Forward gears it only shutters like it wants to go but can't. #1 How much of a job is it going to be to put the transmission from the 97 in to the 2000?? OR

A wrecking yard might pull the tranny for you in exchange for rest of vehicle for no cost.

Worth an inquiry. You got to get rid of totalled vehicle anyway. Without tranny and totalled, maybe you get a couple hundred for it otherwise.

Someone else can put tranny in for you for a few hundred.


Full service wrecking yards are great resources to find cheap experienced mechanics to do things like that on the side for $25/hr cash. Give them a call, they can suggest names to do work.
