It's a bit complicated compared to the 5.0/5.8's of before. You have to replace the pump under the timing cover. It's bolted to the block, with the crankshaft running thru the center to turn the pump. You'll have to remove the timing chains to access the pump. You may be able to remove the pump without the oil pan off (like a chev in a way), but looks like removing the pan is the preferred way. If you are 4x4 you'll have to drop (or at least unbolt it) a cross member piece in the front where the axle goes.

All in all, would I tackle it? Sure! Would someone without mechanical knowledge, Oh hell NO! Someone with decent skills and time, can do it. Make sure you have a service manual the first time, as it may prove to be your savior. lol. I was trying to send you a piece of my pdf Service manual, but can't seem to upload it. I'll keep trying, so you can see for yourself what you are dealing with. As they say, Good Luck!!!
