Default Hypertech Programmer the same on all f150 4.6?

THe reason im asking is because i have a 2001 f150 4.6 and a guy is selling his hypertech programmer that came off his 1999 model 4.6. When i looked up the part number online, it says its for the 1998 model and supposedly the 2001 uses a different one. I though all the 4.6 were the same. I want to know before i buy it. Its a pretty good deal but if it wont work its pointless. Can somebody help.

It should.. 99-03 is the same. 97-98 is usually dif.

I just went on Hypertechs website and put in the dif year trucks.. 99-03 can use either the Max Energry or Eco chip.. so you should be good to go.

He said the programmer is for a '98. He has a '01. So, probably not the same.

yeah the guy said he had it on his 1999 f150 4.6 but for some reason the part number is for a 98. Its one of the older hypertech programmers so maybe it works on all 4.6 motors regardless if its a truck or a mustang

But he used it on a 99' which is different than a 98'. Soo if that is the case, it should work.

But all in all, I wouldn't waste my $ on a Hypertech anyways. Look for an Edge Evo.

4.2
97-98 3mm Headgasket
99-03 4mm Head Gasket
4.6
97-01 Non-PI heads
01-04 PI heads
5.4
97-98 Non PI Heads
99-03 PI heads

Hypertech isnt too great BTW. Also 4.6's shouldn't have a tuner till bolt ons are put on first. Such as E-Fans, Intake, Exhaust, TB.
