how to rebuld multifunction switch?

hay i had to take my multifunction switch appart to check for corosion witch i found some and cleand all the contact points with some sand paper but when i went to put it back together my bright lights stayed on and i has a spring left over i didnt know hwere it went so i just tryed it to see when i first toulk it part i couldent tell where the spring for the high beems was located i just need to know hwhere that spring go's

can anyone help?

I assume you mean the light switch selector and dimmer, which is described below. I just reassembled mine after replacing the bulb with a LED. This is NOT for the turn signal stalk switch... I had to catch myself...

There are 2 in the assembly. One goes behind the switch **** itself, covered by a pointed plastic cover that gives you the "click" The other spring goes in at the end of the plastic "slide", which is what holds the whole assembly in when it's complete and ready to go into the dash. The hole for it is directly above the rotary dimmer (if you're holding it as it would be installed), looking at it with the faceplate removed.

yeah i got it put back together and everythang seems to work but when i hook it up the part that you pull farward that turns on your high beems dosent seem to work right plus i have a 3ed spring and i am not sure if its thare for an extra or what?

okay well i have this sping left over and my problum now is when i pull tthe brights thay dont work or click like thay should but when i pull all the way thay come on only when i hold it and like i say i have this spring i dont know what to do with it?

well i gess i got it all fixed now its just realy weard i have a spring left over!

On the 97-03 f150's you need to also check the pigtail wiring to the multifunction switch... Exspecially if it has tilt steering.

Never heard of anyone "rebuilding" these swiches. It normally gets replaced. If your rebuild turns out successful, It'd be worth another post.
