Ford replaced the torque converter under warranty in 2003 at 50,000 miles, otherwise the transmission is original, never been touched by a mechanic. New timing chains installed (by dealer) at 240,000 miles. Replaced the original alternator at 275,000 miles. Still using ORIGINAL water pump. Uses around 1/2 quart of oil between changes (began using Synthetic at 90,000 miles), changed every 5000 miles. Just installed the Ford Racing SVT lowering kit (M3000L), handles much better!
How much were the new timing chains?

98 w/310,000 miles. Never any major problems. Still has the original u-joints and 3G alternator amongst other things. VERY solid engine! Never used oil or leaked it between changes.

EDIT: The body began rusting bad, been working on that..

Haha, that's what happens lol. I know, I ran 44's on the truck before this one as my DD. That was pricey to keep it going, - specially when you like to play lol.

But yup, the 98 still has the factory grease-less u- joints. The only time I heard them make noise is when I had a car hauler tied to the back with a handicap full size van aboard. Had to back that up, up hill on a very narrow winding drive. Man that was a PITA, - thought for sure I hurt the rears. I probably do need to replace. Altough they're not loose, I see some kind of red plastic deal under the caps that wasen't there before.
