I'm pretty sure preventive maintenance doesn't include replacing the engine unless you have $4000 to spend. All filters and fluids changed, clean whats needs to be cleaned and replace what should be replaced, that is good maintenance.

There's many reasons I wanna rebuilt my engine maybe you wouldn't and that's fine but I need my rig to be reliable and I always like to know exactly what's going on under the hood. The trucks 13 years old I bet there's quite a bit of gunk in that engine + it being a mud truck soon doesn't help, tranny work will be done soon as well

It's great to rebuild the engine and get a built tranny. But why do it before it needs done? My tranny went out and I replaced it with a monster tranny and love it. But there's no way I would have done all that to replace a working tranny. I mean just save money until it needs done if your that worried about it. And you won't get stranded if you say wait til the tranny starts slipping to replace it rather than waiting until it stops moving. And wait til the engine starts smoking/knocking ect. to rebuild it
