Default How to keep your truck from being broken into stolen 97-03

Here is a list of things I've heard of but Id like to make sure they are correct and if there are any more I haven't listed. I'm moving into my first apartment and would like to gain knowledge keep my Ford safe! Some are a little over the top but it whatever I can find to know what would work best.

-Keep removable stereo, Gps and mount hidden or out of the vehicle

-turn the steering wheel turned all the way to locking position

-don't leave a spare key anywhere on the vehicle

-put in 4x4, e-brake or both

-locking wheel nuts

-cover vin so secondary key is harder to make

-use a cable lock to lock the hood down

-windows always rolled up

-add a hidden switch between the ignition or fuel pump

-Put in motion detecting alarm or blinking blue light. (depending on budget)

-etch vin numbers on windows (although goes against the covering vin one)

-brake pedal lock (But you can still use the e-brake at slower speeds) Why does these trucks still start without the brake pedal compressed? I think that’s a flaw. I tested that It won’t leave park without the brake compressed which is good but if they can hot wire it to start wouldn’t it be just as easy for them to get it out of park or is it harder? BTW whats better, brake or steering lock?

-Steering wheel lock. Is the built in lock good enough?

-lowjack

-park in well let places

-Personalize license plate or exterior features (easier for police to find)

-remove key locks on doors seal and pant over and use keyless entry only or
keypad.

-keep locks and remove keyless entry (some people have a way of breaking
the lock code)

-fake interior camera

-add a bright flashing blue light on the back or in the reverse lights that turns
on when the truck starts and has to be turned off by a hidden switch (attracts police)

-tint windows

Wouldn't you save a ton of money if you just had replacement insurance instead of trying make your truck Fort Knox. It seems like a lot of overkill on a 11 model year or older truck, that's all.

This one is my favourite, "-remove key locks on doors seal and pant over and use keyless entry only or keypad."

That's a lot of trouble to go to when I could just smash a window and pop it open in 2 seconds.

Steering wheel lock will slow someone down but it makes the decision to break into someone else's vehicle easier, dark tinted windows leave the impression that there might be something in your truck worth stealing.
I've lived in some rough hood's and all I did was keep the interior empty, roll the windows up and lock the doors.

I live in a suburb of Detroit and while I don't use one myself people I know that live closer to the hood swear by the club to lock the steering wheel in place. Either that or the one that locks the steering wheel to the brake pedal. Personally like stated above I just keep nothing visible in the truck plus I have tinted windows.

If someone wants your truck or whats in it bad enough...they will get it. The way i figure it..if a thief wants it, take it. that is why i have insurance
Besides an alarm is only going to make noise and by the time you get out there your sh#@ is already gone or broken....just my thoughts
