Default Driver side window wont go down only uP!

After it rained all day yesterday this morning my driver side window stopped going down. it worked normal last night. rarely it will go down but then will stop again, but everytime i hit the up switch it works fine. i have looked online and cant find a answer to it. I drilled out the two holes in the door steel to acess the two bolts and removed the window motor thinking that was the problem but when i bought a new one the problem still persisted in the new motor right away! only goes up but wont go down.

any ideas???? answers?

since it wasnt the motor i put the old one back and returned the new one.

could be the switch, regulator, or GEM... our trucks have a service bulletin about a windshield leak on the bottom left that leaks onto the GEM which in-turn corrodes various electrical connections causing weird electrical problems...

I just fixed the same kinda thing disconnect the window from the regulator. See if the regulator moves up and down easy with the motor control. If not use white lithium grease on the regulator slides. With the window disconnected check to see if it moves in its track. Fix what does not work.
On mine I had to clean the window guide since someone had sprayed grease on it. If you want to lube that try silicone spray. Hope that helps.

I have heard about the leaks but havnt checked any of that yet, as far as testing the rails to see if it moves freely i havnt tried that eaither but i had removed the motor and tried it while still plugged in with absolutely no pressure on it just to see if the motor spun freely and it didn't only going up it would but going down it would not. and i know its not the motor because i bought a brand new one and as soon as i plugged it in it did the same thing so i know its gatta be something els. thanks guys

any other ideas would be great!

There is a TSB for our trucks having a water leak onto the GEM module Causing this exact issue and some others... but i am only having the window issue so i am hoping its not completely damaged. I am going to take it apart tomorrow and see what I find.

most complaints about this people are finding puddles of water under their dash and condensation. sooooooo well see!

I just fixed my rear window because of leaking water $300 fix and now its leaking in the front.... I am pretty pissed at this point. <<<<something like that

Ya I haven't had a problem since I removed the window motor and reinstalled switch seems to take lots of pressure to work. Have issues with door locks to replaced the actuator on the drivers side everything worked now it works when it wants too

I am actually working on my truck right now and I pulled apart the gem and didn't find any water or condensation or signs of water. So what now? I also ran the hose on my door and windshield for like 2 min and looked inside no signs of water leaks. Any ideas?

I would replace the window switch. I had the same issue with my car where it would only roll down and not up. I replaced the motor and still had the same issue so you know it is the switch.
