Just a question is it normal after these trucks sit for about 48 hours and check the oil cold for it to barley register on dip stick? Then once cranked then cut off after a few seconds for it to register and be normal level?

Oil pressure doesn't tell you how much oil is in the engine, it will hold oil pressure until it gets so low the pump can't pick it up any longer. If it is barely touching the dip stick after sitting a while, you need to add some oil.

The act of cranking it probably splashes it a little higher on the dipstick. Wipe it off and check the level again and I bet it registers the same as when it's been sitting.

Hopefully you did no long term damage. The ticking probably started when the oil finally got low enough to not be able to be picked up by the oil pump. How long did you drive with it ticking? Did the tick go away once you added oil?

Change the oil and filter now with the correct weight oil (5w-20) and use a good filter (Motorcraft works well and is < $4 from most anywhere). Check you oil every 500 miles at first to see if it is leaking quickly, then go to 1000 miles.
