Lightbulb Homemade cold air intake: Genius or ridiculous?

I've never had the final end of the stock intake which connects into the fender. So i believe my truck has just been sucking in hot engine air. It also appears it wouldn't fit correctly either since my N/A fan shroud is bulky and is in the way of the stock lightning airbox. I've used part of the N/A intake setup with a 3 inch coupler. Kind of a goofy play on the "gotts mod".

Hopefully this will help lower my IAT"2" temps and scoot me down the track quicker. \

I've also gotten the plenum ported to match the port on the S/C.

That final horn that goes through the fender i the most restrictive part of the stock air system. Replace that with a length of thin-walled PVC drain pipe (the Gotts Mod). Also, the holes you drilled in the inner fender will only serve to allow more water and dirt into the fender well and thus your air system. Other than that, you're right on. CAIs that draw air from inside the engine bay definitely gives you hotter air that the stock system.
