I to deleted the two back cats on my 02 it got louder and that and the cai that V6 really woke up. If I have to do it again though I'll just buy two high flow cats and delete the backs. My truck has 162k on it so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they go bad on my 97

Some can. I put a slip on exhaust on my Yamaha R6, removed the cat, and got a Power Commander to allow the computer to run w/o the o2 sensor. Added 40 HP and dropped like ~7 pounds off the bike. I know bikes are different than cars but I would bet if you can get a tuner to let you run w/o O2 sensors for you bike, you can probably get em for your truck.

If you want to remove the two rearmost cats, thats fine, it shouldn't affect the 02 sensors and throw a code at all. But please leave the front two cats alone. I don't wanna sound like some tree hugger or anything, but its there for a reason and you may find yourself having a real hard time with inspections without them..

Bet me buckwheat... EVERY tuner worth their salt has an option to turn off the rear o2 sensors. But again, for whatever reason, the truck world is stuck in some wormhole outside the realm of all the other car enthusiast knowledge and parts lol.

I'm sure shops doing custom tunes might do it, but it is a federal offense to remove emissions equipment on an OBDII system and for a business that could be bad news... for the individual its really no big thing but your handheld tuners can't turn off the rear 02's anymore. I've been involved in the ford Tuning scene for a very long time and that last time you could turn off the rear 02's was with the Diablo Predators of 2003 vintage on the then new Terminators (Cobra). Not long after Diablo was forced to remove that option in their tuners via firmware updates, call em and ask there buckwheat..

Dude, you seriously need to stop talking about what hand held tuners can and cant do...

Iv owned a superchips tuner, diablo, Xcal and now finally settled on the Delta Force Tuning package and ALL of them had an option to turn the rear o2s off... sooooooo shh. I didnt even buy my Mustang until 2007, so obviously you need to re-evaluate your vast tuning knowledge there...buckwheat.

OK tuning "guru" turn off your 02s remove your cats and unless your slipping someone a $50 under the table, have fun with vehicle inspections. Cats are not much of a performance loss anymore at all, in fact many vehicles depend on them for the needed back pressure to help low end torque numebers. Either way I'll shhhh now, have fun.

LOL ill put my 4.6L tuning abilities against yours ANY day man. I dont have close to $2000 in software and testing equipment for nothing.

And there is no emission inspection where i live...so I dont have to worry about it. And to say that 4 cats are not a restriction is laughable. An o/r midpipe is one of the best gains you can have as far as exhaust goes.

im just lookin for some insight. this is under my 2001 f150 reg cab long box 4.2L v6. Too the left that is the rear cat it has an o2 sensor going into it. my question is the thing close to the engine to the right of it is that another cat or is it just a brush guard for when the pipe corners theres is another o2 sensor closer to the engine on this pipe. this pic is of the driver side exit.

That is the front cat, there should be another O2 sensor in front of it.
