Default Help. Truck wont start

Thursday night I was driving home from work and all of a sudden my engine shut off and a battery light appeared on the dash, I lost all power steering and brakes. I took a look under the hood and the belt was off completly of the pullys. I then looked underneath and noticed antifreeze spilling, coming from the water pump. My guess the water pump locked up and threw the belt off. Now I have everything put back together with the new water pump, but the truck wont start. I charged the battery and everything, everything is fine, I can turn the key to the "on position" without starting it and its fine, but as soon as I try to turn the engine over, I lose all power, lights and all. I gain power back in 3 hours and the same thing happens again. All the wires seem fine so im at a lost.

Plus my power windows are down and its about to rain..

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to have your truck on to operate your windows. Just have the key in accessory or on. I can't help you with your engine issue though. Good luck!

Perhaps that when the belt was off, and the battery ran down it, it damaged the battery to where it won't hold a charge anymore. This has happened to my motorcycle batteries where after charging you have enough amps to run lights etc, but there aren't enough amps to crank the engine. Just a guess. I would have it tested or swap in another battery that you know is good. It's the simplest place to start.

I have to agree. The battery might just be shot and won't hold a charge at all.

I some how got it running. I let it run for about 30 minutes, then test drove it about 15 miles. I got home, turned it off, tried to turn it back on and nothing. I lost all power, includeing windows and everything, I will go get the battery tested to see if that is the problem, Thanks for yall's help

This may be an extremely stupid question, but how much corrosion and how tight are the terminals?

The terminals on the battery are clean. I bought new batter connects (I just had a brain fart on the actual name of them. To early in the morning) about a month ago, and everything is clean and secure, minus I had to tighten the negative up a tad bit, but still nothing.

Thanks for the input
That wasnt a dumb question.

I did manage to start it again after jumping the silinoid right after my power got back on. Im going to go ahead and replace that because its less than 20 bucks, but I dont think the silinoid would cause me to loose all power like I have been. Going to work on it, Im going to check all the grounds make sure they have good connections and go from there.

Had the same problem on my last car, the clamps that go on the posts were so loose, not even sticking safety pins in between the terminal and the posts got me home.

This should help when installing another water-pump.

I have an extra one if you need it.

I also suggest changing your thermostat and a radiator/heatcore flush when doing this.

Oops didnt read the entire thread, saw you already have the pump in.

I would check your alt. again.
Also check your voltage at starter with a DMM, could have loose terminals at the starter/relay
