Default Help- service engine soon issue

99 F150 work truck, v6 manual transmission,4wd.

Used for chores around the place, Less than 17K miles.

Runs fine.

Trying to get NYS inspection but can't as "service engine light " is on.

Gas cap fine,runs fine.

Added some dry gas as the 30 gal tank sits around mostly empty all the time.

Mechanic can't connect to get codes, I assume fuse and will check.

Plan to check fuses and reset codes by disconnecting battery. Any other ideas?

( I know , this truck doesn't get enough work)

Inputs/ideas appreciated. Thanks

Cigarette lighter fuse. Don't disconnect the battery as this can trip a P1000 drive cycle code.

^x2 on the fuse. If the mechanic can't get codes, there is no reason to disconnect the battery to reset the codes. Just check all fuses.
