If it was cross threaded you may get lucky and that it just ripped the threads on the plug (one one side and smashed them on the other). However, by the looks of that plug, I think your 4-threads may be toast.

Yea, that's definitely not a good sign. But, it's worth trying just the chaser first if you don't have a Time-Sert kit handy. TS's - If you take your time, it only a 20 minute procedure. No head removal needed (in case some of you aren't aware.) Some shops will do it for you, but you have to be careful as some will just us a Helicoil for the repair. That never lasts. If your lucky, you'll get 2 years out of it. Time-Serts last forever.

Default Same thing happened to me

Had this happen to me. The 5.4L has aluminum heads I was told. When it blew it took the coil over plug with it. The shop put a helicoil in and a new coil over plug. Now the truck sits because I crashed it in a blizzard and the air bag went off along with minor front end damage.

Yes X 1.25. Nothing fancy, they're just NPT.

Ford recommends the Lock and Stitch kit, but the Time -Sert repair has long proven itself.

Helicoil, - not kidding yuh, the most I've seen those last in a plug chamber is 2 years. The other bad thing about the Heli-coil, when the blow they take out a nice chunk of the head with it. Fortunately, even that can be repaired without head removal. Time-sert makes a "Big Sert" kit for just that problem.

Time-Sert is easy to look up,- very popular, they have the triton head repair on video.

LocknStitch (The Ford approved repair) is here, -

Check out the PDF's for info. ^^^

Yup, - aluminum. The 4.6L/5.4L use the same heads. Interchangeable.

Crashed! That sucks, - duchbag deployment, - that's even worse! Sounds like your okay tho.
