Help my insanity...
Ok so I'm curious then, when the custom maps are built for me is there no altitude compensation factored into it? I would think a good tuner would know that what works at sea level won't work up here.
I want a little better MPG's and more power, I don't need a ton but enough that it can at least break the tires loose if I punch it. I can't even do a burnout of any kind with my truck. Granted it's all stock and I"m at 4500' elevation.
If you have the money to make payments and want a new truck, then why not just get one? Granted payments suck, but if you can upgrade and still live comfortably, just go get one and enjoy it. I know I will when I can afford it.
If thats how you feel go buy a Eco-Boost and be done with it. Boost is going to be the only way to make reliable power and still get decent mileage when your foot isnt in it. Your not gonna add power and get fuel mileage out of 20 year old tech. If it was possible the newer vehicles wouldnt have direct injection.

I just want a little bump, if I can do little burnouts or just get the tires to chirp a little while maintaining my current MPG's then I'll be happy for a while.
Maybe in a year I'll look at the new F150's or that new RAM with the diesel V6, for now I'll stick with this. However, if it's just a waste of $$$ I won't buy a tuner.
So I keep reading about how either the SCT tuner or Edge tuner can give some nice power increases with a little gain on the MPG's as well. Yet you tell me otherwise, so I guess you're saying tuners won't give me anything?

Yes that is what I would expect 4.10's to do. I think I'll just keep the 3.55's as even if I do these mods I won't keep the truck more than 2-3 yrs. Currently my truck has only one small scratch and 2 small chips in the hood. Then there is a little surface rust in the bottom of the tailgate that I've been watching closely and trying to keep cleaned off. Other than that it's still very nice and in almost new condition.
If I can get 8-10% bump in power and keep current MPG's then the aforementioned mods -gears would be worth doing. I'd also mount a set of really nice wheels on the truck to give it a fresh look.
If I'm really not going to get a performance bump from doing all that (CAI, Cat Back Exh, SCT MPT Programmer) then I'll just go buy a new truck!
So I just read up on something called a GOTTS Mod to the factory airbox, seems that's the better way to go over the $260 CAI.
