Help manually shifting automatic inside cab
Look for the shift cable near the base of the column where the shifter is. It's usually connected to the transmission lever. Typically, there's a small lever or button you can press to release the cable. Once released, you should be able to move the transmission lever manually. Just remember, this is a quick fix, and the actual problem is in the automatic transmission system.
Well, the external controls anyway.
The shift tube is broken?
You can just pop the cable off the round pin on the lever (BIG screwdriver) and manually push and pull the cable back and forth
The cables fray inside too so that is how you tell what is wrong
If the cable is frayed, it will act like a sticking spring and not shift the trans properly
