Default Help!!!

Ive got a 1999 f150 4x4 with a 5.4 that blew up back in November of 2014 and had it towed back to my house where it sat until a few weeks ago. I got a new engine for it and needed to get it to the shop to have it installed. So we hooked up a battery and tried to start it and it actually started after a few minutes of cranking. It sounded terrible but it was running, I out it in gear and it wouldnt go anywhere, then tried 1st and wouldnt go anywhere, then tried reverse and wouldnt go anywhere. I had my buddy shove on the back while it gave it gas and it started moving and we drove it about a mile to where it needed to go. What do you guys think the problem was? The transmission was fine when it was parked.

You said you had it towed? Did it go on a slideback or was it towed with the rear wheels down on the asphalt? How far was it towed if on the wheels?

These transmissions cannot be towed with the driveshaft connected. They will burn up in short order, as there is no fluid being pumped by the conv/pump. That is why I asked.

That turned out to be the problem with the one I bought. I had to replace the E4OD.
