Help
I have a 97 4.6L 4x4. I just replaced the instrument cluster with one I pulled from a 98 Expidition. I replaced it because the RPM indicator on mine did not work. Just to be safe, I disconnected the battery to do the work. Now that I am done, my engine idles rough and the check engine light has come on. It ran great before this. Any ideas?

Is the production date on your 97, Aug 96 or earlier? If not what is the production date of your truck. Give me those first and we'll go from there.
The reason I asked the pro date of our truck, is that the early model 97's, made on 8-96 or before, use a different computer software. Those trucks have many parts that look the same, but will not work or even fit the 9-96s and up. Headlight mounting is totally different, front pieces, computer, and many more parts WILL NOT Interchange. Ford was trying to make up it's mind if the Generation 10 was going to be a seller, or if they would continue the Gen 9 models. I personally, am glad that they decided to continue with the Gen 10 models.

Those codes have absolutely nothing to do with the cluster replacement.
P0401 is a DFPE being faulty, clogged EGR tube, or faulty EGR valve. You can check the EGR valve with a vacuum pump. If the rpm's change when you pull vac on the valve, then the valve is working. IF not, clean out the EGR valve and tube for deposits. If that doesn't work, replace the DFPE sensor. The EGR valve is the last to be replaced, as cleaning usually will correct problems with the valve.
The P0141 is an oxygen sensor circuit on the right bank, front sensor. Check the wiring for a short or open in the wiring. The resistance of the heated O2 sensor maybe high and out of spec. If so, replace that O2 sensor.
Good luck.
