How do you remove the heater core in a '98 F150 with 6 cylinder in it? Also new to the board and appreciate any help.

welcome, now get ready to have fun
1 disconnect battery
2 drain coolant
3 remove instrument panel
4 compress the holding tabs and disconect the heater water hoses at the heater core
5 remove the AC plenum demister screw and remove the AC plenum demister adapter
6 disconnect the vacuum line
7 remove heater core bracket
8 remove the 13 retaining screws and remove the plenum chamber top
9 remove the blend door assembly from the case
10 remove the heater core
11 installation is the reversal

this is in my chilton manual, but it's another chapter that tells you how to remove instrument panel buy the manual lol

Oh yea, one other thing that you forgot to mention... you will loose pieces of your knuckles while swapping out the heater core.

I did this on my '76 F-150 several years ago... how I miss that old truck...

I had mine go out also, I have a friend who is a ford mechanic and did it for me for a case of beer and some extra hand help. It sucked! Hope it worked out for you with little to no problems.

Hello guys, new to the board, but love my F150.

I have been searching for instructions about the heater core replacement. My nephew and I are going to attempt to replace my '97 model core tomorrow. I found some detailed instructions on the web one time, but can't find them now that I need them.

Would i have to go through the same process on my 92 with the 5.0? My dad had an 89 bronco and when he replaced his,he said it was like 3 or 4 bolts to get the cover off and like a clip holdin it in? Maybe a diff. in the years? I ordered a new core yeterday and will prolly tackle it this comin weekend.

On your 92 you should be able to go through the glove box.
